A girl's wish come true@Sime Darby Convention Centre, Bukit Kiara

I am glad having given the opportunity to witness the holy matrimony of my colleague, SJ.
It was my first time attending an event in this convention centre. The rooftop venue was an excellent choice for a luncheon. The sunnie rays shone through the glass windows creating a warm atmosphere and the hall was beautifully decorated with the pastel theme colours.
The happy bride SJ was beaming with joy and gladness and the husband was filled with smiles. What a blessed day, Amen!
The wide array of pastries and desserts really got me excited just looking at them beautifully displayed. The downside of all these desserts are that they're served in tiny portions and you forget that you actually ate alot already.
I think I took 4 spoons and 2 bowls of pastries and... 2 cupcakes.. 1 stolen for later consumption in the car. -_____-
I had 1 more cupcake.. during the wedding reception at night. Oh mamama.........

Eating my blues away@Apgujeong, Solaris Mt Kiara

It was a tough day at work.. all my energy was drained. Sucked dry. But I remember Father's Word of encouragement, good and bad for the greater good.

Rather than feeling lousy, I went and had a great meal in Apgujeong. I love the food here and have recommended many friends to.come over.

Tonite shall be a meaty affair! Spicy chilli marinated pork belly grilled till the yummy juices oozed out chargrilling the corners to crunchy perfection!

And to re-visit my all-time-favourite, bbq pork ribs! The meat was so tender, it falls off the bone within one bite. Accompanied by various healthy vegetable side dishes. Yums!

Finally, all of it washed down with Mekju (beer mixed with soju).

A battle I fought hard today, I'll retreat tonight.. and start new tomorrow!

WanTan lunch@Pontian Noodle House, SS2

On most lunch break days, we are always faced with the biggest question and the biggest headache.... where to go and what to eat?

Many times when reach the barricades at the office building exit, we ask each other in the car,"turn right or left?"

Today, we drove aimlessly and ended up in SS2.  After circling few rounds around SS2, we finally found an empty carpark lot and the foodies near us were...McDs (yawns) or Pelita (yawns).

Then we saw this enlarged but faded sign which says '"Pontian noodles". First thoughts that came in our minds were," where is Pontian?  Famous for wan tan noodles meh?"

Out of curiosity (and laziness) we decided to give it a try.

The restaurant was decorated with pastel colours, and cartoon graffitis on the wall. Felt like we were entering a kindergarden. How is this relevant to the concept of wantan noodles? Our doubts on the food came instantly.

Surprisingly,  the wantan noodles weren't that bad. Per bowl was RM 5.80. Although the charsiews were of low quality, the noodles and spicy sauce compensated for it. Wantans were also average.

I ordered the jelly lime juice which came in a funky cup. But I must admit, this drink sure helped cool the body down from the scorching heat outside. RM 2.80.

All in all the meals cost me less than RM 10. Hey, for the comfort of having air-conditioning and your clothes not stinking like after a meal in a kopitiam, and averagely tasty food... it is rather worth every penny!

To come back here again however...hmmmm..probably if we faced similar situations like now...

Korea's patisserie, Paris Baguette is one of the top bakeries in the Won land and it is easily spotted just about any corner of the street.

I got a bun, stuffed with thicky and fluffy cream and red bean paste... my favourite for.. freeeeeeeeeee...! It was really yummy...mmmmm....bliss!

Ok, time to sleep *burp*. A healthy diet indeed, cream and sugar and straight to bed.

Tuna sashimi korean style@Gaon, Desa Sri Hartamas

This is truly worth penning down.

A korean friend introduced this place and apparently it is not common to find korean restaurants serving tuna sashimis in KL and Gaon is one of the few ones which does.

In fact, in Korea, you rarely find both BBQ and sashimi dishes served in the same restaurant. Malaysia is boleh-land after all. Pao ka laio.

Side dishes served prior the main sashimi meal here were different from the typical ones we usually get in small bowls in most korean restaurants. Smoked raw salmon slices drizzled in korean mayo, 3 layer pork slices with old aged kimchi (much more sour than the normal ones), and some sticky whitish shoots where by you wrap them with seaweed before eating. My korean friend forgotten what its called in english.

The highlight of course was the tuna sashimi, from different parts of the fish's body.

From a glance, it looked like beef slices from its colour. I've been told that the darkest red slices were the most expensive parts, somewhere near its head n gill area. One piece was enough for me, a little too bloody for my liking.

My favourite part the tuna belly slices. The proper way to eat it was to dip in sesame seasoned oil and wrap the sashimi with seaweed before eating. Wasabi is not a key addition here. This distinguishes the sashimi style of eating between the koreans and japs.

We ordered 1 small portion of bbq grilled beef which was really good: tender and juicy!

The owner must really like my friend as she came along and gave more free food. Wha-----t?
Free stewed pork ribs, deep fried vegetables and fish stomach. There were just too much for 3 tummies to consume.

After the meaty dishes came in, it dawned on me why restaurants in Korea do not serve both sashimi and meats together in one venue...because they were not meant to be feasted together! After a while, the combination of both made me a little uneasy on the tummy.

This dining experience opened a new found liking for me, which is...Mekju! The combination of icey cold beer and soju. I might develop an addiction for this. Oh no.....

Gaon. Keep up the good work! Ill be back!

Oh yah.. we played tennis and chilled by the pool before this glorious dinner. I just love how my feet looked in the pool.

Stuffed and filled@Dave's, One Utama

Frankly I never noticed this restaurant whenever I am in One Utama... all these years. Until I had my first dining experience during a team dinner early this year. I gotta say...I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the food! Ambience was rather nice too, suitable place for dinner with a group of friend/colleagues as the food portion is quite generous.

I came back for dinner on my own account a couple of weeks later. Glad to say that my second trip did not disappoint either.

The salami, ham, mozarella pizza was nicely oven baked, as you can see from the charcoal burnt crisp ends of the dough and the chef was generous with the toppings, especially the fact that good quality  meat and smokey cheese slices were added. In fact, the pizza is big enough for 2 hungry eaters. RM 32. Worth every single penny.

I know sometimes people do think it is silly to order garlic bread/ bruschetta/ caesar salad because these things are easily prepared at home but Dave's bruschetta is out-of-this-world. Do not be deceived by its simple look and slightly expensive price tag (RM 16), each slice was toasted to perfection. Crunchy on the outer parts and softened in the middle, coated with garlic butter, topped with cured tomatoes, drizzled over olive oil. If I was feeling gluttony, I could eat all 4. Control.... woman, control...

Dave's famous for their meat, especially pork dishes. Its menu highlights a cute piggy logo indicating its signature dish.. fried pork knuckle! I can't remember the exact price.. probably betwen RM 55-70. Although it looked smaller in the photo, boy oh boy... we barely finished half of it. It is so much better in all aspects: looks, taste, crunchiness, freshness, tenderness and the list goes on... compared to the overrated ones you hear of eg: Overtime, German bierhauses, etc.

The other half of the knuckle went home with me.. and became my lunch over the weekend, after I tore the meat slices into shreds and with a little addition of black pepper sauce and slapped between 2 slices of bread.. whoah-lah! Delicious pork sandwich!

The kitchen area is opened for public viewing and it's comforting to know that the owner/chef is personally involved in the food preparation along side his team of chefs, which I got to hand it to him for his hard work and efforts to ensure the quality of his restaurant's food mains top notch.

I'll definitely come back here again to try his beef dishes as well as his award winning sandwich!

Dave's round 3, soon to come!

Chickylicious meal@Ayam Bakar

The 'ayam bakar' or grilled chicken was a halal version of charsiew pork. Nicely caramelized and chargrilled to perfection. Two thumbs up!

The fried chicken was also another halal version of fried pork knuckles. I believe they have a really large and deep pot of hot frying oil to have fried the drumstick so evenly: crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Ooohlala!

The fried squid slices however was rather disappointing. When served, they were already kinda cold. As if fried in a big batch much earlier on and placed on one side. I guess the tip is not to order another genre of food eg seafood when the restaurant says 'Chicken'.

The final dish, desserts! This I gotta say was really interesting. My first time having banana fritters coated with melted cheese inside and sprinkled cheese toppings. Though I found it rather strange to have fritters for dinner, but for testing new food's sake..oh well!

It was pretty yummy as they used really good sweet nicely ripened bananas. And yeah, it actually went rather well with the savoury cheese taste. Who would have known?

But.. oh my. One fritter was enough. Sinfulness score hits the roof.

Id definitely come back here again!
