A cuppa nicely done caffeine boost@Whisk, One Utama

The Star Trek movie was at 11.20 pm. We were there in One Utama since 8 pm. It was the week's school holidays so the mall was packed like sardines in a can. Claustrophobic!
We walked and walked and walked until we were bored. And there was still 2 more hours to kill. Energy levels low. Eyelids closing down. Decided to get a quick fix of caffeine at Whisk to hold up until 11.20 pm.
Whisk, one of the boutique coffee joints that has gained popularity amongst the yuppies and young execs.
This time, I ordered the cappuccino. The espresso dose was Kau this time, milk thickened and foamy too. I was pretty happy with what I got.
I gotta say that the americano however, varies when it comes to the QC. My first attempt: not impressed. Too diluted and coffee was not hot. Second attempt: turned out great. Smooth down the throat and the coffee was Kau and hot. Third attempt: diluted again. Hmmmm... I should stick to the choice that involve milk in future.
Nonetheless, the layout of this place is very grunge, artsy, condusive for a laid back chill out session..and as my gf says it reminds her of Paris.
Strategically located next to Starbucks, and at for those who wants to order a cuppa for take-away, you can do so at its right corner with a label that says "For serious coffee drinkers..".
For those who walk past it and head towards Starbucks, reading this will probably cause a tiny Ouch in the heart haha.

Ex PM Channel chatters@Tong Pak Fu, Subang SS15

One of those impromptu moments where the volcano of tolerance erupted and all gather to cool down over chatters and ice.
This was my first time trying out the shaved ice from famous TPF. I gotta say... it wasnt as special in term of everything: taste, price, environment... as the ones I had from Kai's shop called Slice, in Far East Plaza, Singapore.
The best flavour was the sesame one, thickened and strong aroma. The rest were....so so.
Oh well the session was not about the ice but about the chatters. It was a great 2 hour session catching up with one another's work and life.
Where shall the next round be, guys?

Morganfields@Paragon, Penang

I've passed by this restaurant several times but was never really drawn into dining here... the chance finally came when I was with 6 hungry big boys hunting for a meaty affair.

We were given adult bips to prevent gracy and sauces staining our clothes. I wore it for a short while but it grew uncomfortable I had to remove it.

This gigantic tray of meaty disbes was meant to serve 3 adults. 3 was an understatement, unless it was 3 very, very hungry adults.

A rack of ribs, 2 thick foot long sausages, few pieces of deep fried dory fillets, prawns, salad and 3 overly oily and crumbly butter cupcakes, grilled corn cobs. For rm 150.

The ribs and sausages were the only items worthy writing on. Juicy, tender ribs with the chargrilled taste locked in. The meat literally did fall off from the bones.

The sausages may not be everyone's cup of tea. Only the strong hearted hard core fans of pork may find it enjoyable. Super super porky aroma. Not for the faint hearted ones.

Morganfield was running a promotion where by if RM300 was achieved in a single receipt and if your birthday is on the day itself or a day apart, you are entitled to receive 1 year's free supply of pork ribs, claimable once a month. Worthy deal!

Fortnightly affair with the ladies@Village Park

I might be a bad influence to the ladies.. as I noticed it was always me who suggests to eat VP's nasi lemak for lunch.

During the moment of savouring the crunchy fried chicken, sweet and spicy sambal, fragrant coconut flavoured rice (we even added extra servings of lady fingers fried with onions and dried shrimps and 'kerak', the leftover fried bits of the fried chicken).... we were very, very happy people.

However the drive back after the meal was horrifying. Complaints of feeling stuffed, sleepy, fat just kept pouring out. The evil after effects of VP's nasi lemak.

It's evil but we can't help ourelves eating it over and over again.

Oh no... the craving is coming again!

John 1:4-5 @Taiping, PRU13

John 1:4-5 NLT

The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.

Indeed the rakyat's dire cry for change is greatly felt in the recent PRU13. As a taiping-ian, I felt really proud of how united my town's people were. Most of my close friends and relatives came back to make a difference. And we will not give up to demand UBAH!

The night before 505, as many as 30, 000 Taiping-ites gathered at the hawker centre to listen to Ngo Kar Ming the DAP reresentative. That is easily 10% of the Taiping-ite population!

I went to Tesco and bought myself a bottle of sauv blanc to drink while waiting for election results. Mom bought chicken and pork satay for dinner and boy oh boy...yum yum! She cooked fried rice with curry pork too. I was definitely preparing for a victorious celebration in front of the PC.

As the night approached, the unjustly news started to surface at many corners of the country. Whatsapp messages were incoming and outgoing like wildfire. By 12 midnight, my entire FB newsfeed went pitch black.

A dark day for the nation.

For consolation, I had few sticks of these delicious chocolate wafers from Milles Fuilles, bought in Japan by my aunt's friend from NY. The wafers were of good quality, dense and generous portions of cream coated in between the layers.

However dark it was. Light will come to the darkness and becomes a day. Believe well!
